Organizing Scrap papers

Carolyn, what I have and it works for me (and Mariann and my sister as they are ALWAYS in my stashes!) is I have two of those three-drawer plastic 8.5x11 size drawer units you can get at Walmart, Office depot and even Dollar stores.

I have a drawer labeled: solid colors: patterned or prints: special papers (like textured, mulberry, etc); bazill paper and another drawer that I put less than a full sheet in if there is not room in my folder for that piece.

Hope this idea helps and you HAVE the room for the drawer units!

Hi Carolyn. I have my paper in a large accordian box that I got at Michaels. The only drawback is that it's really heavy. Guess I have too much paper in it :-) Nah you can never have too much paper!

My problem is when to classify something as a scrap. I too have the accordian file heavy with paper. I have color labels for each section. I do have one section labeled "Scraps". It's getting quite full.

I use a binder with page protectors.

I use a couple of different methods because I have a TON of paper.

I have one of the afore mentioned accordian storage items where I have some but not all of my cardstock (12X12). Colors that are in the ones that I have been most recently working with on layouts....I run in cycles on some of the colors I prefer and this works for me. Then I have a Crop in Style Navigator where I have some more 12X12 stored.....these are the ones that I purchase in full packages from places like Michael's or Joann's. And the rest of my 12X12 is stored in a Cropper Hopper storage bin that is on a rolling cart. OK......not really organized but I have to much of the 12X12 to keep in all in one place and I don't have a "scrap room" (I have to scrap at the formal diningroom table) so I can't designate a place for shelves etc. Pieces of scrap that are large enough to mat photos or use as borders are stored with the original color cardstock. Smaller scraps are in a box -colors are mixed.....I need to organize it so like colors are together. Oh and I have a Crop in Style Paper Taker that I use for 12X12 as well.........OK..........so I am disorganized and I have a goal to work on reorganizing this stuff when DH leaves town for 2 weeks in Nov. That will be the only time it will be safe to pull EVERYTHING out all at once. If he saw how much of this stuff I have, he'd declare me incompetent!

Then there is the 8 1/2 X 11 paper. I have this stored laying flat in the drawer of one of those rolling carts that someone mentioned. I got mine at an office supply store because the "Iris" brand tooked sturdier than the others.

My advice is don't acquire so much paper that you can't store it all in one place! HTH S

That's bad advice Susan!! Tomorrow after our market meeting I am going to go by the SB store I visit in Jacksonville. They have recently moved to a new location and I can't wait to see what they've done. I'll leave my checkbook in the car:) What debit card?

Isn't finding the perfect storage/organization tools like the search for the holy grail?!?!?! I have too deep sweater boxes I got from the container store. One is cardstock, the other patterned paper. In those I have folders. I like them because they have lids and stack easily but I can't help thiking there is a better way.

Thank you. That is what I do with my 8 1/2 X 11 and 12 X 12 papers. I love having my large papers vertical. I was looking for something for the little leftover scraps. I finally got out a small accordian folder I had and labeled each section by color. That is working well and keeps the little pieces from getting lost. Thanks again.
