OT: dental implant surgery

Well, I just had dental implant surgery and I must say that it was interesting. I didn't feel anything when he was doing the procedure as he numbed me up well but now I am a bit sore and I am bleeding a bit. I am sure as each day that goes by it will feel better and better. Wondering if anyone else has ever had or has a Dental implant? Blessings to all, Dorothy in NY

Small world! Just had one two Mondays ago! Well, just the post/bone drilling part. Supposed to heal for

4 or 5 months now before the next part is done, then finally a crown, then ALL DONE, woot!!! :-)

I tend to tolerate pain pretty well, so I have just been using motrin for 'uncomfortableness' (a few levels below OHMYGODSHOOTMEJUSTSHOOTMENOW!) as needed, which really hasn't been too bad. The first few days I had sutures that bugged me more than any kind of pain! But got those out after a week or so. The first day or so, yes, I was sore and had a bit of bleeding but not that much. Mostly it was in my jaw toward the back from keeping my mouth open for so long during the surgery! But other than that, not too bad.

Since the sutures came out on Monday, it's been better for me because they aren't bugging me any more (felt like I'd left pieces of floss stuck between several teeth) but now everything feels pretty good--kind of weird to feel the raised section after all these years of having a 'valley' there (had to have a bone graft a few months ago too) and just yesterday I started chewing easy foods on that side without a problem. Every once on a while I get a dull ache in the implant area and take

1 or 2 motrin and that's all I need.

Hugs and prayers for quick recovery for you, Dorothy! Hope you feel much better SOON!
