Update On Ally

I know that most of you know what is wrong with Ally. With her kidney's and reflux.

I wanted to let you know that we went to the doctor today to talk about the xrays that Ally had done last month. She still has the reflux, and the doctor said that on a reflux scale of 1-5 hers is a 5 which is the worst. So what this means is that she will have to have surgery. I?m going to call tomorrow morning and make the appointment. I?m thinking it will be at the end of July or sometime in August. The doctor said they always do the surgeries on Tuesdays. So she will be there from Tuesday until Thursday sometime. It will be at All Children?s in Tampa. The surgery is a 2 hour process. The chance of it working is 95%. She can go home on Thursday if she eats, pees, poops, drinks correctly. I?m thinking that Abby will be staying with my mom and dad and Eric is going with me. Eric?s mom is also taking those days off to be with us up there.

We were thinking that she had healed because she hadn?t had any infections since she was little, but it has not healed which is why they need to go in a fix it. The doctor said that it?s best to get it done now because her recovery time will be shorter. If she was like 8 years old it might take her longer.

It will be the longest 2 hours of my life that?s for sure.

{{{{{{Tabby}}}}}} I know how tough this news was on you. What is great is that they can make her all better. What sucks is that you have to put your baby girl in the hands of the OR staff and just sit and wait and that is very tough. You know that my thoughts and prayers are with you!

Oh the poor thing. How old is Ally now? I know she's your youngest. How do they do surgery for that. I had hiatel hernia surgery about 5 years ago. I didn't know if it's the same way. Good luck and I will be praying and thinking of her.

I did ok until after the kids went to sleep and then I broke down. Very true. Then she won't have to take medicine all the time. Thank you M-C! It will be very tough to sit and wait.

Thank you Irene!! Luckily my husband and my MIL will be up there with me. My parents will be watching Abby. I did learn that after she is in her own room only 1 person can stay the night, but my husband has family that lives up that way that he and my MIL can stay at. I just know that Ally will want her mommy there with her.

Ally is 3 now. Just turned 3 on March 24th. They just put a mask on her and make her go to sleep and then just make a little cut a little lower in the tummy area.

Thank you Shannon!

the surgery should go fine and I'll send up a prayer.

My DFIL had the surgery and the worst case senario happened and they had to remove the esophogus and replace it with the intestine. It was a rough recovery as he was 60 y/o at the time but he is much better now.

Hope all goes well Kate
