OT: FIRES come again!!

But I am ok here for now. There are HUGE grass fires to the west of me. My son was coming home from Amarillo and was stopped in Groom along I-40. They headed north (stupid ex) and went to PAMPA, then back down to McCLEAN trying to miss the fires on both sides of I-40. He got just north of McCLEAN and told to go back north. He headed back to PAMPA and came more eastward to MOBETTIE, WHEELER then south to SHAMROCK. I gave him a map to go home using a southern route. He got home really late. The man left home at 10am to come here and got back to his house at around 8pm.... all for a 3 hour round trip. At this moment WHEELER is evacuating some homes. that is north west of here. My MIL lives north of us, west of WHEELER by 5 miles. Her electric is out. We are just covered with heavy smog look here. I will let you know as learn more.

Also have my great niece here and still can't get to scrappin'... She is old enuf to keep Zen busy but she has ADHD and short memory and short attention. She does go and get milk or a diaper when i need it though. SHe has her first toothy for a week now, no more showing. Not crawling yet, but loves to stand. She is a DRAMA QUEEN though. Coughs and then exagerates it. We sit and watch her and if we watch she turns to us and smiles like "what?". and we break out laughing. Well till later... laterZ!

Well as of right now they have reopened I-40 east of Amarillo coming to Shamrock... I didn't hear anything on the fire though. They opened a bunch of roads now. No local antenna TV channels as the fire got the transmitter tower in Wheeler..... so we are watching it on dish tv.

So, glad to hear you're OK.

Sounds like you're having fun with babies. The drama queen thing can be SO funny.

Take care, April. Wish I could send you some of this rain we are getting. Roads closed here every which way you turn, but ours is due to flooding. School was closed last Friday due to high water. I think they are going to try today and just do a partial bus run to get the ones they can. Sandy

everything is ok this way so far. I have dirt fields on the north and south of me anyway. My MIL is back home but without electricity. they still have roberts county evecuated. They think a car wreck and fire started it. As of now they say they are all under control. I called by daughters great grandparents in Alanreed which is close to groom tx. They lost there wood barn that housed his wood crafts and tools. Most of there property on the upper level. There cows, house and bull canyon retreat area was saved. Otherwise all is ok once again here. They are calling it the biggest fire in the history of the state of Texas.

I hear ya. I'm in north central TX and the drought here is so bad, there's all kinds of burn bans and such. I even feel sorry for the poor Red River. You can pretty much walk across it and just get your feet wet.
