ot: found out good news

my MIL just called and told me Kevin is coming home tomorrow to surprise me!!!! she was sworn to secrecy by kevin, but DS and I have been sick, sooo my house has gone to crap. she knew i wanted a super clean house for kevin to come home to, so she thought she'd warn me. our house is always so cluttered with my craft stuff in the kitchen, kameron running the living room (his toy closet is in there under the stairs), and i have sorta taken over the office too with Christmas projects. i'm soooo excited. it's been almost two months. before this, the longest we'd been apart is 1 1/2 weeks. quite a change. everyone have as great weekend!!

I am so happy for you.

I hope your MIL is ready for Babysitting duty, at least for a day or two.

Great news! He will understand you've been sick. Just do a surface run through the house. I'll bet he'll be so glad to see you he won't care what the house looks like. This will be a happy weekend at your place. Sandy

And to top it off you are so lucky to have such a wonderful MIL. That's the kind of MIL I am trying to be to my SIL's and DIL. The week after DH and I got married my MIL came to the house while DH was at work and told me point blank that she didn't know how I tricked him into marrying me, but he was suppose to marry someone else and I got in the way. Needless to say it was a stiff 25 year relationship until her death in 1999. She only spoke to me if I made it a point to speak to her, and it was as short as possible. She never attended a single school program from preschool thru graduation that our children were involved in, but never missed any of the other grandchildren's activities. I will say she did attend baseball games one summer season my two oldest played peewee league, but that was because DH's nephew and niece (two of the other grandchildren) played on the same team as our two (DH coached). Four (possibly five) of the grandchildren are spending the night tonight and we are making cookies. The fifth grandchild may be here as my DIL's contractions are 9 min apart today and we may get our Sam for the night while his new baby brother is making an appearance. I think he's two weeks early, but wants to make sure I get him a Christmas present too.

That's great news and that you didn't lose power. Though candle light and no cooking might have been nice too if as Kate suggested your MIL was in the mood for some babysitting!

Have a great reunion.

What a wonderful surprise for you and Kameron. I'm sure he will be so glad to see you that it won't matter what the house looks like. Have fun!

(I won't even attempt to sing with Kate & M-C!)

That is so sad. It is one thing if she doesn't like you but she carried over and affected the relationship she should have had with her grandchildren and that's a real shame. OTOH my parents only ever attended things for my kids at Church or birthdays. They never went to a single sport event or school event ever. But they never attend anything for my sisters kids either. And....when I earned a second degree they didn't bother going to my graduation since they already went to the first one....... LOL

That's great news Anji! I'm sure he'll be so glad to be home though, that the house won't matter.
