OT: Happy New Year and Prayers PLEASE

First of all, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year, I pray that 2006 brings great things to each of you. Secondly, I just wanted to let you all know that we have serious bushfires not too far away from us at the moment. Today was the hottest New Years Day ever recorded, the temperature reached 48 degrees celcius where we were. We have a southerly change expected tonight, which normally would bring relief, but the fire fighters are worried as it is bringing 115km/h winds which they fear will cause 2 major fires to merge putting further homes and lives at risk. So far today 3 houses have been lost, 7 volunteer fire fighters had their vehicles destroyed when fire stripped through the Fire Command Centre. People have been hospitalised, one man with burns to 60% of his body, others with smoke inhalation. The people in the immediate area are on high alert and could be evacuated at any time during the night (pray that the winds calm down and the firies can get the situation under control). We, at the moment are not in any immediate danger, however our area is very similar to that affected. We are surrounded by bushland on a peninsular with only one road in. If the winds stay strong, and the fire spreads (or another fire ignites) we could be in very real danger. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers... For so many families, this is not a great start to the New Year! I will check in when I can to let you know how things are going. Hopefully the fires can be contained without much more devastation. I am sending prayers to all who are having a hard time due to the natural disasters...so much going on lately! We have had weather in the 70s F ! This is just not right for our area in January. We had violent thunderstorms over the week end and tornados !! Winds were very high with the thunderstorms and it was a bit scary. We had the sirens going off and we were even advised to take shelter. So everyone with fires and floods,tornados and mud slides, I am sending prayers that all will regain some normalcy soon.
