Album Question

I'm sure there is a simple solution to my problem that I just can't figure out.

I'm using 12x12 post bound albums that works with a screw that you can remove when you want to add another page protector. What I want to know is how thick your album can be? The albums come with about 10 page protectors in them which provides for 20 LO's. When I try to add another page protector, the screws holding the album together seem to be too short! Can the back of the album expand a bit and do I need to get other screws or what? LOL I've also heard of something called "spacers". How does it work? I do like to use some bulky stuff sometimes and I think I might need these.

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I hope some one can help please! I'm doing a vacation album over the years for me and DH and have not even finished our honeymoon phodies yet and my album seem to be "full"!

Thanks a bunch!

Judy,

To accommodate more pages you need to get screw post extenders

or larger post altogether. Some buy them in DIY stores and I got some recently from an online DIY...they are used for something like fixing two furniture units together..... check the link

(watch the wrap) The more pages you add the more likely your album is to spread open at the front like a V shape so you can add cardboard spacers between the pages to balance things out and allow for the lumpy stuff. You can buy spacers in packs but they are easily made from mountboard. Here is a link so you can see what they look like

I made some a while back without a problem :o) Another way......is to use craft foam spacers which cuts easily with scissors! From what I read you can put 30+ PP's or more in some post bound albums and others struggle with 20 or so. If you look at the spine it has elongated slots to allow for the extra PP's and will extend a fair bit. I have even read where people replace the spine completely if it becomes to tight.....LOL It is the weight and stability of the album that seems to be the greatest problem! The little screw post extenders can come loose with lots of handling. People seem to like the Creative Memories strap hinge albums if they want to put loads of LO's in one album but I don't think they are true 12 x 12 and you need to trim before starting your layout and the PP's slide on from the side....it is a totally different principal and more expensive than post bound. LO's already done may not trim well and look out of balance.

Personally, I have recently bought the Pioneer SnapLoad Retro Fit Kits from ebay and they are superb and so easy to fit and use.

check out the video...it is easy to convert!!!!! I bought two to try then bought another four right away to convert all the albums I am working on. They are raving about them on the Scrapjazz board

No problem Sandy....I just ordered another 6 LOL. I believe that Deb used this system for her parents album and it has about 70+ pages I think. I love them and once you do the first exchange it is a piece of cake....you'll love the ease of use!

Take care, Marilyn

Wow Marilyn! You know that you are the queen of super links!!! Thanks so much! I was thinking of that album that Deb made for her folks and that's why I thought there HAD to be a way to expand my album to more than 10 PP's. I think I might also order one of those albums on Ebay - that is if there are any left and I can convince DH!!! ;)))

Thanx again - you're a star!

Judy...it is a KIT to modify your current album. The kit contains self adhesive parts that replace your current posts and it is easy to do the exchange without removing all your pages. The istructions on the packaging are easy to follow and you can change over in about five minutes. I have just ordered another 6 kits as I think it makes it so easy to add more pages.

I've been using those on my bigger albums for a while now and they are great! I had bought 5 kits from QVC when they first came out! They are just great!

Sadly they haven't hit QVC UK yet and I am not aware of anyone in the UK supplying them either. That is why I resorted to ebay after you spoke of them when Deb used one for her parents album. Glad to hear they are holding up on your bigger albums as they say they will hold up to 300 pages (guess they mean 150 PP's) but I think you may need a crane to lift the album if you put in that many pages..... LOLOL Do you still use cardboard or craft foam spacers M-C?

Take care, Marilyn

I finally got to check out the video (my 56k modem takes forever to buffer) and now I get the full picture. This really looks wonderful! Thanks again :)
