OT: My son's "new" room

Hi, Gang. I just want to show off what I was working on all of last week and why I hardly got to do anything else all week. My son was away in a group home 3 1/2 hours from where we live for a year. While he was gone, we added a new room to our basement and made it a bedroom for my middle son so that we could seperate the two teenage boys into their own rooms. After learning my oldest son was coming home for good on Aug. 14, I hustled to get his room fixed up for him because he had been through a lot the last year and overcome a lot of battles he was having with himself. I had to make it special for him. He is a huge Carolina Gamecocks fan so I wanted to incorporate that into his room. I have pictures in my webshots photos (An album titled Alex's "new" room) of the room before and after and then Alex seeing it for the first time. Let me know what you think. My DH gave me a hard time about the room because the burgundy (actually called Apple-A-Day) was so stubborn to look not splotchy and I spent so much time on touching up the stripes after the paint had bled through under the tape.

From the look on his face when he saw the room, I'd say the work you put into it was well worth it. I wish I could do something creative with my kids rooms, but we have the old fashion knobby plaster walls and ceilings (which by the way are in fantastic shape) with the wide varnished woodwork and even a nail is a no-no. You did a great job. Sandy

wow you did a great job on those stripes! I know how hard you must have worked. The joy on his face shows how much he liked it. I've always wanted to do my boys room in bold colors like that. Linda C
