OT: Prayers for my Brother

I got a call from my brother today telling me that as a result of a virus infection the left side of his face and 2/3rds of his mouth are paralysed. His left eye won't close, he has to tape it shut to sleep, and he has to hold his mouth closed with one hand so things don't spill out. They are hopeful that over time he may recover. This is the same brother that has surviced colon cancer and learned last year that he had diabetes. He is only

  1. They have given him meds that but those are making it difficult for him to keep his blood sugar level where it is supposed to be.

I know that the prayers and positive thoughts of this group have awesom power. Please won't you add my brother, Richard, to your thoughs and prayers.

Thanks,

Hi M-C,

My web connection wimped out so I want to reiterate what I tried to post before.

I wish your brother Richard a speedy recovery. I'm sure he is at a point where he is looking heaven ward and asking "why me"

I don't have an answer to "why me" but he should also thank the guardian angels who are by his side and will help you and your family through this emotional time as well.

I am sending hugs your way and prayers.

Hugs, Kate (& DH Larry)

Is it Bell's Palsy? If so, I have heard that it very often does fully recover over time. I hope that is the case and that he can recover.

I do not know Jenn. My brother speaks French with very little English and he didn't mention a name for it. Just said that it does get better in 90% of cases of people under 50. However he was worried that given his other complications, he does not have the normal physiology of a 50- person. I just hope that he fully recovers. He is off work until at least the end of the month. Hopefully things will get better soon. I worked with a young woman who had Bells Palsy twice, once on each siide of her face and she recovered completely in a very, very short time. However she was in her mid or late 20s.

Thanks everyone for remembering him in your prayers.

M-C I am including your brother Richard in my prayers and have passed it along to my dear family and friends. It sounds as if he may have Bell's Palsey. My oldest brother had this a long time ago and he totally recovered. So we will send healing thoughts out for Richard!

M-C, sending lots of prayers and healthy vibes your brothers way! It's such a coincidence, but just this past week I was listening to a medical radio show where they discussed this type of paralysis. I think the doctor said that they can give steroids as medication, not quite sure, but what I definitely remember is that he said it takes a couple of weeks for recovery. In any event, I hope he gets better soon :)
