OT: Prayers Please (DH is in the hospital)

I just wanted to leave a quick note asking for prayers please. This afternoon DH complained of having an uncomfortable sensation in his chest (like his heart skipped a beat he said). We rang the after hours medic centre who advised us to go to the hospital. DH had to have an ECG (heartbeat trace) test, and it showed some abnormalities, so he has been admitted to hospital for further tests and has to see a cardiologist tomorrow morning. Please say some prayers that he will be ok. When I left tonight, they had given him some aspirin, and he was connected to monitors etc. We have been through a very stressful time recently, now it seems it has taken it's toll on him. I will be going back into the hospital first thing in the morning, I'll write more when I know more.

TIA, luv Cec...xxx

I'll be thinking about you too, Cec. We had a similar scare on our last vacation (3-day vacation and DH spent half of it in the hospital). The good news is that doctors take chest discomfort very seriously. My DH's abnormal tests turned out to be due to high blood pressure, although they said that wouldn't account for his chest discomfort. But they did every test they had at their disposal to make sure and eventually ruled him to be fine.

Anyway, just know that I feel for you, and I know first hand how difficult this must be for you.

Best wishes for both of you. Julie

Cec,

I will pray for you as well. I wanted to tell you that my DH had the EXACT same thing happen about a year ago, and all the tests came back just fine. He had recently had strep and had been through the course of antibiotics etc but one day woke up with that tight feeling in his chest and pain...they did about a gazillion tests and we had to stay all day because they wait for the results to come back and then do the tests again to compare them...standard proceedure so don't worry. They decided that it may have had something to do with the strep and let him come home and he's been fine since. They always take every precaution when it deals with the heart and it takes a while for the tests to come out, but I'm hoping that it's just stress and that he'll be fine. Try not to worry about it even though it feels so serious, unless you have to. But if he's in the hands of capable doctors everything will be fine no matter what the results are....keep your chin up!

Many prayers for your DH and you... stress can do nasty things to your body, but if it's just that he'll be fine if you can both get a break. Sounds like a good excuse for a vacation to me...

I was going to do individual replies, but I thought one BIG THANK YOU was in order!! DH came out of hospital today, the blood tests did not show any damage to his heart (so that means what he had was not a heart attack), and he had an ECG this morning too which was normal. I don't know what was happening last night (nobody knows). He has to have an ultrasound on his heart to check that the arteries are not narrowed, hardened or blocked, and follow-up just with his local doctor. Is the health system that strained that they can't do the ultrasound whilst he is in the hospital? anyhow, I am so grateful that he is ok and was able to come home today. I can't thank you all enough for your support and your prayers, it means so much. luv Cec...xxx
