OT: QVC...

Funny story: My hubby and I are looking into getting cable for the house. (Yes, I know I am strange for not having it already. Since we bought the house I just have never bothered hooking it up) Yesterday I noticed Leonra's post about QVC. I thought "hmmm... if we get cable I can watch all of the craft shows. Whoo hoo!" I called my husband and told him about my great revelation. He thought that was a reason not to get Cable. LOL

PS - We will get cable of course because my hubby is a big college football fanatic. We will also get a big screen TV. That is ok because I will enjoy watching my craft shows on the big screen. Hehe!

Peeking out from behind a stack of shoes that have been thrown from one coast to the other with a lot of them landing in Texas.

Tammy,

What college does your husband root for? I am a big sports fan. And there will be times when my husband will come home and find a game on TV. He will ask so politely if we can watch something else.

Going back behind the stack of shoes now. You never know when a shoe will come flying by.

Hi Pamela!

You're funny! Here's a special shoe shield! You should come out and play more often! We like having fun here as much as we like to scrapbook.

*thwap* Hey where did that sandal come from????

ROFL Smart hubby Tammy! *ducks any flying shoes or sandals* Don't worry, you're not the only cable-less one. It may be hard to believe, but DH and I have never had cable or satellite. I'm wanting satellite, but other things need to be taken care of, first.

LOL You're funny Pamela! You definately need to come out and play with us more.

My DH loves football, too. Once football season starts, he tries to watch the games whenever he can. I don't mind. The kids like watching it with him, so it gives them all some bonding time.

Meaning that it also gives you some quiet time to do other things? Sending a big hug your way, Deb... miss you!

If your strange then so are we. We had cable briefly when we moved in (it was a freebie that expired in a month). We turned the TV on 2 times in that month and decided no we aren't going to get it for that little bit. So if I can't find it on the internet or at the library we don't watch it. Besides I have found that I can scrapbook or I can watch Tv but not both at the same time and well I choose to scrap. My DH is not a sports fan or we might have cable. My parents have it for the sports.

Pamela,

My hubby is a big Texas A&M fan and a Michigan fan. He went to college at A&M. Now I am going to ask... are you a Texas fan or a Texas A&M fan? You know I had to ask. The shoes flying depends on your answer. LOL!!!! I actually love watching sports also. One reason why my hubby loves me.

PS - Where in the big ole state of Texas are you? I am in the Houston area.

I am the same way about the TV. We get most of the local stations from Houston so we just never bother. I would rather be scrapbooking anyways!! hehe. Of course, if I could watch scrapbooking shows then I might watch it more. We have several local restraunts we can go watch sports and meet up with friends so it really hasn't been a big issue. Of course, hubby doesn't get to watch every game that way... LOL.

Tammy, I live in Terrell. I am a huge Michigan fan. That is were I planned to go when I graduated but I got married instead. I still watch them all the time. Actually, right now I am a Texas and A&M fan. But in about 3 years I will be an OU fan. My son plans to go to OU when he graduates in '09. My daughter wants to be a marine biologist so she wants to go to A&M at Galveston when she graduates in 2013. She has her life pretty much mapped out. She will be 12 in October.

I see the shoes flying from the Houston area because I will be cheering for OU but I won't be cheering for them until my son attends OU in 2009. We have a lot for fun when we watch the Texas/OU Game.

Pamela, Do you know any McBeths in the Terrell area? That's where some of my DH's cousins live. Sandy

Sandy, I don't know any McBeths. Have they lived here long? My parents graduated from Terrell High School in 1955. Were they here then? If so, I can ask my parents if they know them.

Most of his cousins were born between the 30s and 50s. I know his uncle Ernest lived between Wills Point and Terrell. I think he moved back there there when he retired from the Houston police force. I believe most of his uncles and aunts went to school in Wills Point. I was there for a visit in 1982 and we visited several cemeteries doing genealogy research. I wish I could make another trip down that way. Sandy

I can also ask my MIL she works for the Wills Point ISD. She might know them or know the name. My DH graduated from WP in '83. He doesn't know the name. I wouldn't recommend coming to Texas right now. We are burning up right now. With temperatures in the 100's and a heat index around 107F it is very hot. Last night around 9pm it was 93F.

I won't throw any shoes until 2009!!! LOL. I have a boss that went to OU. I get stuck in the middle of an e-mail war when it gets close to the A&M/OU game. It is very funny. Good thing my boss has a sense of humor. My other boss went to Texas. Lets just say football season is a fun time. hehe

Amanda from Recs has a connection at A&M Galveston. If you need any info. about it A&M Galveston in a couple years I bet Amanda could help.

I think it's funny how the bedlam is around here. I'm from Oklahoma and I root for both teams. Even when they are playing eachother! lol I really don't keep up with football too much, college or pro (I usually just watch the superbowl!). But I do take notice when all of our college teams are playing. (OU/OSU/TU)

I just shout GO OKLAHOMA!

Thanks Tammy. My SIL is from Oklahoma so it is fun getting together and rooting for our teams. The funny thing about my son wanting to go to OU is when I was 8 months pregnant with him my husband got the bright idea to go to the state fair. The problem was it was the Texas/OU Game. Everything was fine until the game let out. It was so crowded that my DH got in front of me so know one would hit my belly. About 2 weeks later he was born on Halloween. About 2 weeks early. We joke about today.
