Scrapping in FL

Hi all... I notice there are many RCS scrappers in FL. Hubby and I are planning on retiring in the South.. Think I will take my FL map, mark and X where all of you live, and pick a spot in the middle!! LOL that way I can visit and/or scrap with each of you!!! What a thought!!

That would be great. Don't forget there are two of us in Lake City! We still get some of the north too. Changing leaves in some places, but I am sure that you want somewhere a little warmer to retire too, most people do.

No, Mel... LOL... see, I want to move north to Maine or Alaska, but hubby wants Florida.. he is from WV and always cold. So because this is his dream and most of my dreams have come true already, we will move South. To be honest, this year in CT the cold is getting to me too!! Anyway, I at least have to be near LSS or CM consultant.. Need to feed my addiction!! >

Then you should really come and live here, across the street from me. I buy wholesale scrapbooking supplies and my best friend is a CM consultant! The house accross the street is actually for sale! LOL!

But this is allllll country! It is great here. We are almost an extension of GA, but don't tell my parents. They can not believe that I picked up the accent. There is lots of land here. When I say lots of land I mean 5 acres at a time. It is awesome to have neighbors, but they do not have to be so close, and we have all the comforts of a big city, if it is not here than Gainesville or Jacksonville is just a hop skip and a jump a way. You know it sounds good. You like it...... Come on. I bet Patty would say it is great too. I have lived in the big cities. They are too crowded. I am just kidding. But there are CM consultants here. Patty and I go to the ScrapShops. It is great I am telling you.

Sounds like you live in a great place Mel. I'm pretty much in the country too, though I live in a subdivision which is very "suburban". I'm within 45 minutes of Tampa and St Petersburg, about 30 from Sarasota and 8 minutes or less from the biggest outlet mall in Tampa Bay.

This area is building up rapidly, which is really good for resale but terrible for the farmers that are being pushed out slowly as the price of land goes up and the real estate taxes though they haven't increased, meet the new evluations. Seeing this place expand is like playing the original SimCity!

Strangely enough we have 2 big quilting stores within 15 minutes. One is only 5 minutes from here, the other just a little further down the road. Considering there are not that many quilt stores overall in FL I'm not sure how we ended up with 2 so close together. I am considering opening a scrapbooking store, but oh the investment required is a pretty chunk of change!

I'm hoping that I'll get to meet the people in the group that live near me. Sounds like I live in the middle! Perhaps I can set up a crop on a Saturday. Shopping at the outlet mall in the morning and crop in the afternoon! So far, I haven't met any avid scrapbookers around here!

Have you checked out realtor.com. It's a great way to shop around for homes in the area(s) that you might be interested in.

I'm here in Merritt Island close to the Kennedy Space Center and the beach is 10 mins. away. Also, very close to Orlando's airport. This place is nice but so very hot for about five months.
