Who can go to the Barn?

Hi everyone,

I'm usually just lurking and reading the posts and checking out what everyone is working on. I used to scrap every week with my best friend but she moved away (just to another town not too far but it's not convenient anymore) and she has a job, is taking classes, volunteers at a horse farm and has a little girl that will soon be turning one SO....I just don't have anyone to scrap with anymore and I'd lost my passion for it. I usually would go to her house because she had more room for us to spread out and work and we would yack, you know. I have four kids and a new puppy so I just have to find a place where I can work without interruptions and little hands and paws trying to get into everything.

Anyway, reading about the Barn and how much fun you all had and all the cool new techniques you learned has made me really want to start scapping again. Who is in charge of organizing the Barn retreat and who can go to it? Do you have some kind of guidelines or something?

I also just got a memory stick for my digital camera (I've had the camera for over a year!) so now I can finally take some photos of my pages and upload them. I think I'l do that right now! I'd love to hear what you experts think of my work.

Thanks for reading.

Hi

First off welcome to the group.

The info for the Barn can be found through our mother site

I know I'd love to see your work. You can get a free site to upload your work at webshots.com and then post a link here so we can browse your work.

where do you live? I live in NYC and I know I love this board because everyone is so friendly and since I don't have anyone to crop with, this board fills that need.

I posted a challenge that you might like to try.

If you stick around long enough you can go to the Barn next year... a few of the ladies had so much fun that they're already talking about going back!

Last Nov I went to a crop weekend that I had seen on the internet. It was only an hour from my house and my cousin lives nearby. I took my husband who spent the weekend golfing with my cousins husband and I went to the crop not knowing anyone. I met a nice lady from NJ, it turns out she only lives 30 minutes away and we are going together in August. If you don't want to wait a whole year look up scrapbook weekends for your state and go have a good time, you will meet lots of people and after a couple of hours it is as if you have known them all for years!

What customers Ronni? I'm not sure if I'll be there again but I like the idea of getting to better know people that I'll continue to be in touch w/ and have already "met". I can go to a crop anywhere and meet strangers.

Hi and thanks for the welcome and the info. I live in southeastern PA (about an hour north of Philly). I'll have to look into some local area scraps. I was fooling around with my digital camera yesterday but the pictures look kind of dark and not too clear so I'm going to have to check the resolution and the other settings before I can post any of my pages. I'm not sure if I'll get it done today.

I'm making cookies for the mother of my daughter's best friend who is laid up right now after taking a bad fall at work and tearing her hamstring and groin muscles. Tonight my daughter and her friend are in a band concert so I've got to pick her friend up since her mom can't drive right now and I thought it would be nice to drop off a little treat for her.

I've got to make lunch for my two youngest girls and then I like to watch Y&R. I'll check back maybe later this evening.

Thanks again! Alida

Actually, given a year to prepare, hopefully we won't need "seat fillers" because we'll be able to pack the place w/ rcsers.

RJ is organizing the Return to the Barn (local Midwest Meet) and I'm organizing a (local Southeastern Meet) to which ALL regular posting members regardless of where they live will be invited. The Southeastern one will be held in FL sometime between October 06 and Feb 07). It might be held in either the Tampa Bay area OR in the Orlando Kissimmee area, that is still TBD.
