Xyron adhesive

hey all... i just took a spontaneous side trip to michaels, and i found a new one. Xyron is now making adhesives much like th herma ones. has anyone used these? heard any pros/cons about them? i was ready to invest in some hermafix dots and tabs now that my dsil is getting out of CM, but since i saw these, i was wondering which was better. thanks!! lori shay louisville

Hi, Lori.

I have not seen the xyron adhesives but I do have the herma tabs and dots. I love the tabs. I have had some problems with my herma dots dispenser but I have heard the new dispensers do not have this problem.

Hi Lori,

I purchased a couple of them. One was the dots which I have used on making a card and I love them. The other is repositionable tape. I have tired it on Vellum but you can still see it. I guess you will always be able to see the adhesive between vellum and a photo. Overall, I really like them. It also is probably due to the fact that I love Xyron products anyway.

Myra - 3M Scotch Brand has come out with a tape for Vellum - It's call led Vellum Tape (Dur!!!) and states - "Disappears on most vellums" ( hmm - I wonder what most means?"

My two cents - the scotch vellum tape works really well but is quite fragile. It almost reminds me of the iron on hem stuff (stitch witchery). Very filmy but does NOT show.

I used that vellum tape on one of my tags and it seemed to work fine. But then I tried to use it on a light colored vellum on a black background, and I could see the vellum tape very clearly. When I tried to take it off, it tore the cardstock slightly, so I had to figure out another way to cover it up. Oh, well, you win some and you lose some.

Patty, I'm glad it is not only me. I had the same problem with the vellum tape. I was putting clear vellum on (kind of) a dark picture of my daughter and I could see all of the tape. When I went to take it off, I had to grab the undo to get it off the picture. Didn't get it off the vellum, just tossed it.

I did learn a trick at one of the classes I took at convention. They said to put the glue on the cardstock first. The paper will absorb some of the glue. Wait until the glue is kind of tacky (dry) and then put the vellum down. We were using glue sticks at the time. And it worked with clear vellum on light cardstock. I haven't tried anything dark since then.

My puny two cents worth after trying the tape. Worked well as previously stated but I just don't think anyone will ever come up with a vellum adhesive that will be 100% invisible on all colors, etc.!!

LOL! Maybe that's why on most of the pages with vellum in the mags, it's attached with eyelets!
