Another Pattern Sale at Hancock

Nov 12, 2010 5 Replies

I went in yesterday (the last day of the Butterick, McCalls, Vogue sale) and , yes, I bought some more....but really went in for some fabric.

Then I heard that there will be a Simplicity Pattern Sale starting next Thursday but will only go thru that Sunday.

Just thought I'd give you all a 'heads up'.

I no longer buy patterns. Since I invested in Pattern Master Boutique I design all my own.

I've kept all my patterns over the years, then was given some of two aunts' after their deaths, till I seldom buy any, except for the grandchildren.

I enjoy taking old patterns, mix & match parts to make a new one that looks completely different from the originals, which I always save.

I haven't bought the Pattern Master Boutique, I did get a sample once when It first came out, but didn't use it very much; and have never used Wild Ginger either.

That sounds like quite a treasure, getting those old patterns.

I have lots of old patterns, some dating back to the 1930s and 40s, most bought at yard sales specifically for some detail such as the line of a collar or neckline or what have you. I still have most of them although I did give a few away some years back. However, I find I can geet most of what I want through PMB these days, so don't have to bother with all those calculations to get ancient patterns to fit me.

Yes, it was quite a treasure, especially some of the DuBarry ones, designed for certain movie actresses during the 1920s, according to my aunts.

These 2 aunts, my DF's sisters, owned a sewing shop in the 20s; DM went over sometimes after work to give them a hand if they had a deadline and were behind; that's where my parents met.
