If you have a JC Penney catalog around, it should have a chart to measure a child's foot to show what size the child would take. I don't have any around any more because I shop online.
UK or American? they are different...
Well, according to the Penney's catalog, a size 11 is 6 11/16" long. Hope this helps.
Before I sew for friends and family, I busy myself with sewing doll clothes for charities. This year I am up to about 19 dolls, which were rescued from thrift shops, cleaned up until they look like new and then given a wardrobe, quilt and pillow. It really is lots of fun and so rewarding. If you want to see any pictures taken last year, etc., you can visit my web site (see below), which my brother encouraged me to create so that others might be interested in doing something similar.
Well, my 4 year old is also in size 11. And her foot seems to match JC Penney. Her foot measures just under 7", 6 3/4 to be exact. Happy knitting! Linda
What a fantastic idea! They look so nice and I don't think a single little girl would turn their noses up at those sweet "new to them" babies! I may "borrow" your idea and do the same thing next Christmas.
My dad does the same thing with old bikes he rescues from the trash. He cleans them up, repaints them and puts new tires on. If one bike is too rough, he can still find a way to use something on another. Then he takes them down to the local charities for distribution. It makes him especially happy when he sees one of his refurbs being ridden by a grinning kid.
Goes to show that any donation means the world to somebody :-)
my 4.9yr old DD's foot is 7". she is in a U.K size 10 continental size 28 HTH Liz
THanks to everyone for the help. I'll make the slippers 7-8" long. Should last through the winter !! :^)

Missed the thread. What are you making? Eh?
