Halloween Costume-Elmo?

My grandson wants to be Elmo for Halloween. Does anyone know of a pattern I could buy to make a costume for him? What about the fabric? I could not find anything online. Cheryl

I don't know about a pattern, but I would think you could use a red fleece to make the costume.

I'd makae him apair of one piece PJ's out o f red fleece. Make a mask using flat craft foam. Get a picture of Elmo's face and use pieces of foam to make the features. Leave large holes for the eyes, nose and mouth so he can see and breathe properly andout lilne the features with the foam. Or use this hat pattern as a guide and make an Elmo hat.

How about a red hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants? Ping pong balls for the eyes... Red gloves for the hands - maybe adults' gloves stuffed a little and sewn on to kids' size gloves...

I was thinking this too, but I don't think ping pong balls are big enough. Maybe styrofoam balls, with the bottom 1/4 cut flat. And you need a big gold nose too.

Depending on where you live - I'd probably make a hooded sweatshirt from red fun-fur, and just let him wear regular red sweats. That way he'd be warm too.
