hemming foot

can anyone give me directions on how to get your material started under a hemming foot? Once I'm going its fine, but I have the darndest time getting it started.

Thanks!

Pop over to me web site and see if the stuff there helps: Hemming with the blind Hemming Foot, I think the bit it called... If that doesn't help, just try a GENTLE tug on the threads behond the foot as you set off...

There is a book called 50 Ways to Master Your Sewing Machine and it suggests you stitch a length across the of what you are trying to hem, and then leave a long piece of thread on each end. You pull the thread through the hemming foot as you begin to sew. I know it sounds strange, but I tried it and it worked. To think of all the times I could have saved myself the frustration....

Great, JJ, glad to be of help. I too bought it at discount, but not through Amazon. It's right next to my sewing machine.
