Can anyone point me to any websites that illustrate how to use a hemming presser foot? Bought a sewing machine (Singer 201) and it came with a box full of presser feet accessories, but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to use them.
Unfortunately this isn't a zig-zag machine or serger...it's a straight-stitch rotary hook machine (Singer 201) from around 1940.
Kay, the illustration you posted a link to shows hemmers like the ones I have...can you tell me how they should be mounted to the machine? I'm scratching my head...
It's mounted to the machine bed with a thumbscrew: this should be the right page:

If those don't work, go to the top of the webpage in the first URL I gave you and use the forward and back buttons in the upper part of the web page (not your browser forward and back) to "thumb through" the booklet. They're just under the "learn more/explore the collection/ about the Smithsonian trade literature collections" in the top blue bar.
There are various types of narrow hemmers around, but if memory serves, this is the style you've probably got. The same booklet includes quite a few of the goodies you've got in your parts box.
I believe the underbraider and top braider are much-sought, but I don't know for sure.
