Here is what I've been up to

DD asked me if I would like to "contribute something" for the fund-raising project for DGD's dance group. They will have a silent auction, here is what I have produced so far:

I may still make two pot-holders to match the apron, I have a really beautiful circle design in the thistle pack.

They are all very nice. The thistles remind me of all the big furry bumblebees I saw dozing in thistles when I was a child. I would love to see the potholders too, but of course I won't be at the auction.

Very pretty. I hope they bring lots of big bids. Juno

Those are something special! Lovely stuff. I particularly like the napkins with matching napkin rings.

If I decide to make them, I'll add pics to my site. Most of the attendees will be ladies with a fondness for all things Scots, so I have my fingers crossed that a couple of them will get in a bidding war. ;-)

I was searching for designs which would be iconic for Scotland, and decided the thistle was perfect.

I bought the design pack from emblibrary.com

I really like their products and they stitch out very nicely.

NAYY, just a satisfied customer.

Thanks, and me too!

Even though this is probably the last year DGD will dance competitively, I am happy to support the local dance organization. The Tartan Tea was fabulous last year, I'm looking forward to attending. But I may leave my check book home this year. ;-}

Thanks! They were black, so I used metallic pewter colored spray paint on them. They match the thread pretty well.

I have way too much fun doing machine embroidery. It almost feels sinful. ;->

It looks like so much fun, but I'm afraid I won't be shopping for a machine that can do things like that anytime in the near future. With 4 kids there are other priorities at this point.

Very nice indeed. I hope they raise the sort of money they deserve.

Been there, done that. I bought my embroidery machine 6 years ago. I'm 70 now, and widowed. So as soon as I get my two grandchildren's college paid for (two years down, six to go) I can spend all my discretionary income on ME! Bwwaaahahahaha... ;-)

Thanks. Mostly the nice people who attend this event are generous in supporting the cause, and readily open their checkbooks. Usually I bid on something. This is my first time donating goods.

Those are great; they should bring good bids.

I'm certain they'll be appreciated.

I found a local source for the real Therma-Flec, they had it at Fabric Depot, AND I had a 40% off coupon, so the yardage cost me just under $.52 each, and I won't have to take apart the Dollar Store ones I bought. Those a nice enough that I'll use them, some of mine are getting pretty ratty. I started embroidering the designs tonight, so I should easily get the pot holders made in time for the deadline..
