I LOVE my new cutting table!

No, it isn't QUITE wide enough, and another foot or so on the length would not come amiss, but being able to spread summat out and cut it at waist height rather than bending over and straining my back is pure joy! And with all that L-shaped area, I can get at the whole thing for cutting just by walking round. No more straining at odd angles, no more wrist-wrenching scissor and cutting moves, and far fewer bits on the floor that didn't ought to be!

I managed to prepare and cut out the toiles for two tops, and two dresses for customers yesterday, in record time. I also managed to alter the final skirt pattern, and I'm going to cut that right after my shower... I stopped for breakfast first! ;)

By the end of the day I shall have the toile for one jacket sewn (even unto pinned in shoulder pads!) and the toiles for another jacket, two tops, two dresses, and a skirt batched up and ready to roll. :) After that there will be a couple of jackets to do. I also hope to work out the yardage and final estimate for a couple of customers and get their contracts off to them. :)

I have a sewing friend coming over today: she has some truly yummy silk tweed to cut and is a bit nervous, so wants a guiding hand. We'll do any pattern alterations needed and get that cut and a good bit of it sewn today. Hongkong finish for the long seams, and serge the edges for the rest! :)

I love a good sewing day! :)

YAY!!!! I'm so glad you found something that will work for you. I have one of the folding cutting tables. The best part of mine is the wheels. ;) When I can't quite reach something on the other side, I can shove the whole table over and get it from the other side. ;)

It makes a HUGE difference when you have a perfect space for cutting. You really will be amazed how fast you can cut now. ;) Enjoy it!

Oh happy days. :) Congrats, Kate!

Congratulations, Kate! You deserve it. An adequately roomy and comfortably positioned cutting table will make your work so much more enjoyable.

My friend was really pleased with how easily we altered and cut her pattern just because there was space at the right height! :)

A good couple of productive days without adding to the aches and pains! :)

What with that and my nice quiet sewing room... And it's good that the two are separate: it makes me move about a lot more than I would otherwise, which is good on lots of levels. Some folk might think that's a waste of time, but with my fibro it's very necessary to keep moving and do different activities at regular intervals.
