No, it isn't QUITE wide enough, and another foot or so on the length would not come amiss, but being able to spread summat out and cut it at waist height rather than bending over and straining my back is pure joy! And with all that L-shaped area, I can get at the whole thing for cutting just by walking round. No more straining at odd angles, no more wrist-wrenching scissor and cutting moves, and far fewer bits on the floor that didn't ought to be!
I managed to prepare and cut out the toiles for two tops, and two dresses for customers yesterday, in record time. I also managed to alter the final skirt pattern, and I'm going to cut that right after my shower... I stopped for breakfast first! ;)
By the end of the day I shall have the toile for one jacket sewn (even unto pinned in shoulder pads!) and the toiles for another jacket, two tops, two dresses, and a skirt batched up and ready to roll. :) After that there will be a couple of jackets to do. I also hope to work out the yardage and final estimate for a couple of customers and get their contracts off to them. :)
I have a sewing friend coming over today: she has some truly yummy silk tweed to cut and is a bit nervous, so wants a guiding hand. We'll do any pattern alterations needed and get that cut and a good bit of it sewn today. Hongkong finish for the long seams, and serge the edges for the rest! :)
I love a good sewing day! :)
