, which callsfor two pairs of jeans (to make into one skirt). I notice that thepicture they've used is a long skirt, and i want to make mine kneelength. do you think it's possible to use a single pair to make a kneelength skirt?

thanks a bunch =)

Yes, you use the part you've cut off from the bottom of the legs to make the wedges that go in the front and back.

I've made several for DD. She really likes a long one with a godet. I made it full-length and used extra demin to fill in the wedge in front. In the back, I measured how long the empty wedge was and put in a quarter-circle of demin with sides that length. It kicks out as she walks and looks great, plus it gives a bit of walking room as those skirts can be a bit tight.

I've also seen them with Chinese-looking brocade filling in the wedges.

a godet at the back would look awesome! i imagine your daughter is the envy of many of her friends! =D

i just have a quick question regarding the instructions. i don't quite undertand what they mean by:

"On the skirt back, overlap the left crotch over the right, trimming the points if desired. Right sides up, insert and pin the prepared wedge to the skirt back, turning under the inseam allowances and extending the inset 1 1/4” beyond the skirt lower edge for a hem allowance. Sew the skirt back and wedge together; trim and finish as for the front."

in the instructions, they say to creat a slit in the back, so i'm not quite sure where this second wedge is coming from.

*confused*

My proudest moment came when she went into one of the really cool shops in our local city wearing a skirt I'd made out of skater pants and the owner came over and asked where she'd bought them from :-) I was such a cool mum that day (doesn't happen often) :-)

You insert a wedge in the back just like the one in the front. The instructions you're looking at tell you to create a wedge with a slit in it but you only need the slit if you're making a long skirt from tight jeans. The just-above-knee-length ones I made didn't have a slit and they had plenty of walking ease.

Does this make sense?
