I made a capelet that was a copy worn by one of the "KISS" band members, the front was made from shoulder ads covered in silver material! I also use shoulder pads when making super hero costumes. They can be used to make a muscly torso.....Amelia (who knows it's proberly not what your looking for!)
What do you want to make? What do you need to know?
I've made angels out of shoulder pads. I covered the pad with theme fabric (teacher, red hat, sewing). I then added lace to the cured part. Tack the two ends towards the middle (this will be the hands). Paint a styrofoam ball flesh colored and add painted eyes, nose, mouth and curly doll hair. Attach this at the middle of the straight part of the shoulder pad using a wire inside the ball and into the pad. I added small flowers or a piece of cardboard folded like a book to the angel's hands. Wired star garland for a halo and a gold wired ribbon bow attached to the back for wings.

Stuff a pillow.
Un-sew and use the coverings as pockets or pocket facings.
Use the innards to hold threads from an un-sewing project, or little clipped bits from the flatbed.
I like the KISS costume thing.

Thank you all for the ideas.
I have quite a few shoulder pads, and don't want to throw them out, as they don't take up much room.
My torso is already a "muscly torso" (complete with fat) :-)
Maybe I could make pillow as one poster suggested. I got an idea of making a doll blanket (in a doll's pram). All ideas were appreciated.
Thanks again.
Oh oh oh! Extra padding in an instrument case. I have a thrift store trumpt that rattles around in the box, and the accessory box is one big open space. A few shoulder pads will secure the valve oil and MP.
Also, when I made my baritone horn bags [memo to self: shoot for project page] I stitched a couple shoulder pads inside to use as pockets. Velcro shut. One holds valve oil, the other the MP.
