NATIONAL (made in Japan) A-288 Questions / Opinions

Aug 02, 2005 4 Replies

Hello - I'm new to this NG and excuse my ignorance to your "norms". I was just given a Heavy Duty / Commercial grade sewing machine for my leather garment projects (cowboy vests-chaps) Is there anyone out here with firsthand experience in using this machine? I did get a manual (very simple) with the machine.

Best Regards Always - Mike Baldwin

Well in response to my own post...I'm goofy that way...I fired up the ol' NATIONAL today and made several passes through 4 to 5 oz leather....fiddled with tension just a bit (upper) and all seems (and seams too) good....with stitch length set at 5 (maximum) any less length and the bobbin thread snaps...I would still like to hear from those of you that may have some tips for me...Thank You and Best Regards - Mike Baldwin
