Here I am in the middle of this elaborate caftan and machine won't work. It's been balking when I use the FIX function - hard to restart motor again. that's what it's doing now--but I can't jolly it into starting again. I really want to get this project finished--will be held up 2 or 3 weeks if I take it in for repair. Any ideas about what might be doing this? Electricity is on, everything seems fine. I've checked plugs on cords, etc. It's been off and on, had a good rest overnight.

It may be the touch button panel or the main board is going wacky...both of which would require a trip to the shop.

In the meantime check your local Craigslist for a good used back up machine :)

Too many could be's to help without having it in the shop. Best you get right at it and tell them you are in a pinch. Any decent shop would try to get it out soon for you, assuming they have stock on the arts you need.

Diagnosing an electronic fault without knowing the circuit diagram, seeing the machine, or testing the machine, is utterly and hopelessly impossible. The best you can hope for is guesses. Asking on a non- electronics ng only means that many respondents wont realise what they dont know.
