No mail & OT my eyes

For some reason, I've had no mail on alt.sewing for the past 2-3 days until yesterday when I received the 2 notes from Ursula and the reply from Beverly. I have not been able to find out why, either.

As for my eyes; the doctor said yesterday both eyes are doing beautifully, the 2nd one is almost as well as the first. I was disappointed that I will continue to need tri-focals. He gave me a temporary prescription and said I should be able to change it with no extra charge, if necessary when I get the permanent one in 3-weeks.

Instead, I opted to go by the drug store and get some Foster-Grant reading ones, instead. That was a mistake, I see worse with them than with my old ones. Actually, I'm not using either right now, and can see this large print okay, but I am getting a headache, so will stop now.

Thanks for all your help and encouragement during the entire saga; I am eternally grateful.

Emily, I don't think anyone has been posting. I was aware of the same thing, but haven't had much free time to post. Must be a lot of busy elves out there. Juno

Emily, it's not that you aren't seeing posts, there has not been any. I think all Santa's Elves are very busy at the moment! :->

Ok, time to let you eyes rest. Following his cataract surgery, my Dad tried to use the computer too much, too soon, and about went mad with blurry vision and weepy eyes. He thought it would be permanent, but when he finally gave himself some time to rest and heal his eyesight improved enormously.

We'll still be "here" after you have your Rx glasses. And FYI, if ever you think you are not getting messages, you can always check alt.sewing through google to see if there are new messages.

Good to see you again Emily and to hear that the eyes are doing well. This particular elf is busy trying to finish knitting sweaters for Christmas, but accepts that at least one will end up unfinished the way things are going at the moment.

SWAMPED over here!!!!!!!! I'm closing in on being done though. I figure one more long day hunched over the sewing machine muttering like a crazy woman and I'll be done. (don't make fun, you know y'all do it too!!! lol)

Well, poop. I'm an impatient healer too. There's always too much to get done to sit and wait a while for my body to do what it needs to do. That said, try to be a patient patient. ;) Rest and get all healed up. Who knows what he might have to tell you in three weeks when you go back. I'm just delighted that he's pleased you're healing so well. :)

Give yourself a hug for me!!!

Juno, Maybe you are correct; I haven't been on the computer since a bit on Friday morning, when I last posted; today, there have been several posts, which I am happy to see. Emily

Thanks, Beverly! I decided on Friday after I posted that note to allow my eyes to rest from everything, except the TV.

I don't normally make any hand-sewn items for Christmas; instead, we purchase items. I really enjoy Christmas shopping. I learned long ago, things I wish to make for whoever can be sewn throughout the year and sent then, or be saved to send at Christmas; that way, there is no rush to sew during the holidays, when there are so many other things to get done.

Lizzy, As I told Beverly in an earlier post, I stopped rushing to get gifts sewn a long ago; I don't knit, crochet, only sew on the machine.

Throughout the year, when I make someone an item, I either send it then or save it for Christmas. There are too many other things to do during the holidays to have those 24-hour sewing days, like when I was younger.

Thanks, Sharon for the good wishes. I am resting and actually feeling well today for an officially 79-YO youngster.
