[OT] Here's why I'm not posting much

Ming is sick, I have an appointment. At first, I thought he was just a little upset at all the commotion around here the last two weeks. He was refusing food all weekend although he still drank water, started vomiting yesterday (but that's not all that unusual), and now has diarrhea. Ick! Dr. H will work him in at 3:30-5:30.

The tile guy is due at 1:00, and the fabricator is coming to set the shower pan about 1:30.

I just spotted an Audubon's Warbler in the Sweet Gum tree, he hopped along the railing, and he also went to the feeder:

Beverly, who'd rather be sewing than cleaning a dog's rear end....

Beverly, I'm sorry to hear about your sick dog and having messes to clean. I hope he gets well quickly. The warbler is a beauty. I hope he comes back to give you a few more views of him. Juno

The vet ran a couple of tests and determined Ming has a stomach bug. He gave him an injection of an antibiotic and Metoclopramide which apparently is a miracle drug! We no sooner got home than Ming started dancing around asking for his breakfast (which he refused this morning). I have oral meds to give him for the next ten days. I have to be pretty careful, the bug is one that can be transmitted to humans.

That link was to an example of the Audubon's Warbler, I wasn't quick enough to get a picture. I am taking lots of pictures of the bathrooms' remodeling. The hall bathroom floor is mostly tiled (we're awaiting a special order accent tile), the shower pan in the master bath was set today, and the wall tile is going up. YAY! ;-)

Thanks, he is doing better already. Poor guy has been pretty miserable for a couple of days.

That's very good news. I was afraid it might be something not so easily treated, so I am extra happy for you. Don't catch it, OK?

Thanks, yes he seems very much on the mend. If only humans healed that quickly.

Bleach has become my new first-choice cleaning aid. I sterilized the deep sink downstairs, which is where I cleaned him up after two... ummm... episodes. According to younger DD, who works in a hospital lab, humans who get it are confined to hospital isolation for the duration. I just have to be sure he doesn't get re-infected. Not sure how to go about that, as I don't know what he got into to start this in the first place. Doctors says it can also be stress induced, it's a bug which is present in the gut all the time, and this household has certainly been stressed recently.

Glad the poor little pooch is on the mend. Bleach is also my tool of choice on all hard surfaces after something like that, and the boil wash for cleaning cloths and bedding.

Poor Ming. Air smooches for him. (I don't want it either.) It probably was stress. I know you felt all the commotion but from his vantage point it had to be even more stressful. You knew the contractors weren't going to step on you and squish you. I'm so glad he's feeling better!

This is my best tip for all kinds of germ control. I have pump bottles of germ-x by the kitchen sink, in both bathrooms, and by the computer keyboard. When DS got the staph infection on his nose (from the football helmet......blech!!!) the ENT said put it in every room "and use it when you go from room to room." I didn't put it in **every** room but in commonly used areas I did. I use the stuff when I pass it and encouraged (pretty strongly) the rest of the family to do the same. Not saying it's a miracle cure, but we haven't had colds or flu or stomach bugs all winter. Might want to think about doing that for a little while.

I'm so glad the bathroom stuff is winding down too! YAY!!!

-Did I mention we got 10" of snow over the weekend? It's all melting now. It started snowing Sat. afternoon. Kept up for a little more than 24 hours.

10". In March. I was thrilled. NOT!!

Ming is feeling much better, which makes ME feel much better as well. ;-) I am pretty careful -always- in the food prep areas to wash things down with bleach, I just hadn't thought about cleaning the deep sink in the laundry room which is where Ming gets his baths.

According to Medical Lab Tech DD: "If it is the same bacteria that causes diarrhea in humans, it is called Clostridium difficile. Humans usually get it after they've taken antibiotics or if they are immune compromised"

Oh joy! I finished ten days of antibiotics a week ago for a very persistent sinus infection. I almost never take antibiotics, I knew there was a very good reason for that.

I haven't seen that product, I'll check it out. I have spray bottles of Clorox Clean-Up next to all sinks and I use it liberally. I have the T-shirts with little bleached streaks across my tummy to prove it. ;-}

It is about two weeks in to a six weeks (estimated) job. The tile guy worked while I was gone with Ming yesterday and goofed. He is in there as I type peeling tiles off the wall. He forgot he was supposed to create a couple of triangle shelves in one corner for shampoo and conditioner, etc. He is also tiling a soap-and-stuff niche. Ah, well, It will be done eventually.

Back to sewing: DGD wants my help -this week- (Spring Break here) altering a pattern for her 8th grade promotion ceremony in June. You know I will be there for her, but I hate not being -here- when workers are doing stuff....

If it is C. diff, stay away from the alcohol-based hand cleaners like GermX or Purell. Soap and water works better.
