I bought a prom dress that is 100% polyester. The dress is kind of pleated, and after getting the dress in the mail I decided I wasn't a big fan of it. I was wondering if I could iron out the pleats so it's smoother. I really don't want to ruin the dress but it would be fabulous if I could get the pleats out. Any suggestions?

Can you return it? If so, do not attempt to press out the pleats, just send it back.
If you cannot return it and really want to try to press out the pleats (but I am very skeptical that it will work), test by spritzing with white vinegar along the hem on one side, press on the WRONG side using a *press cloth* and an iron set on *synthetic* setting. But be very careful, it may melt.
Since those pleats were set at the factory it's pretty unlikely that you will be able to "unset" them, the lines will show no matter what.
Good luck.

I agree with Beverly and Bobbie; just return it as I bet those pleats are in that material for forever and nothing will remove them.
