Serger Cone Size?

Here's a dumb question: What's the largest cone size you can use on a normal home serger? Would 12,000 yard cones be too big? Creature of habit that I am, I've only used Maxi-Lock which, IIRC, is like 3000 yards. I have a Bernina 800DL serger but I suspect that most of the home sergers are pretty much the same in the cone size sense.

Pretty much! I use 5000m cones on both the Huskylock and the Toyota, and there's no reason why you shouldn't use bigger cones, but you'll need a separate cone stand for them. If they need to sit on the machine, 5000m bulk nylon is about your max.

I've used the larger, 12,000 yd cones and just put them on the sewing table---right beside where it would go on the machine stand. I really do like these when I have a lot of serging to do. Barbara in SC and now FL
