EBay Scam

Hope you can get e-bay to shut him down. He is just a common thief stealing your work. File complaint with Ebay, your copyright people and if your local law will take the complaint file there too. Selling cheap copies is one thing, "let the buyer beware" "you get what you pay for" but to steal another mans work outright and then try to profit from your ill gotten goods is just plain wrong.

Go get 'em Darrell. I understand that Ebay doesn't want any more problems than they have with copyright infringement, so if you notify them they will probably suspend him immediately, the kick him out right after that.

That kind of crap is just plain wrong. I can't imagine how many hours you have spent over the year putting together both your videos and your website. And what thay guy did was no less than plain stealing.

I hope you let us know how Ebay responds and how long it took.

eBay will shut down those that violate your copyright. In some cases, they are overly aggressive, and do so if there is a HINT of controversy. Complain immediately.

well, for 20 cents you can put up a 99 cent auction - in the auction text say "free download of the video at my web page", give the URL, and say "auction price is a donation to support my hobby and web site, winner gets my thanks in addition to his/her free download"

cheap, will tend to disabuse those who will attempt to sell your work, and may get you some nice donations

Note that the idea of selling physical versions of a free online video isn't inherently evil; sometimes a nicely-produced print version of a series of web pages, or a DVD/tape of a good video, is worth a bit of a markup to people who want to share them with non-Net types or take them places that don't have computers. If you paired up with someone who has the facilities to make DVDs, you could sell them online as a convenience and make a few pennies.

Of course, doing it without your knowledge or permission is wrong, wrong, wrong, and illegal! And wrong!
