LDD

Haven't tried it yet, but am intriqued. Have done some searching through google groups but haven't seen anything about compatibility with various finishes. My favorites are shellac and "Danish" oil finish.

And how about salad bowls? Seems like if you soaked the bowls in LDD and then used them for a wet salad, you'd get soap flavor. Is this true?

LDD works very well with those finishes you describe. I do not recommend water based finishes. Most off the soap that is absorbed into the bowl is either turned away or sanded away. I suspect that any left over soap in the cell walls will stay there after their water has evaporated through the finish coat. Hi, Michael! Congratulations on taking the first step to an easier, less time and power consuming method. The duplicity on Google is undoubtedly a product of the reactionary woodturners striving to cause people to turn away from the light! Be not dismayed. A copy of "The World-famouse Treatise on LDD" is on its way to you, free of charge, by separate attachment-friendly email. *G*
