Limerick

There is a thread running in rec.crafts.metalworking, where people are submitting on-topic limericks. I wrote one, which I have adapted to make it on-topic here:

There once was a turner named Irving, Who talked of a sixteen inch swing. But the girl that he treasured, Found out that he measured, At double the size of the thing.

Anyone else care to submit?

Hahahaha!!!!! I'll bet the girl was happy to submit!

God Bless, Al Kyder

After much sanding and toil he'd finished with "pure" min'ral oil. But set it down later where she'd peeled a 'tater. It soaked up all of the soil.

Dirty enough?

Ok, I can't finish the ornament while this is on my mind.

It swung sixteen inch, so he said. And so, to the bedroom she led. He grunted and groaned he finished, she moaned "it's consid'rbly _less_ o'er the bed!

Spalted beech with aromatic cedar icecicle, BTW.

Al, I thought you were dead...................

There once was a sailor from Briton Who said to his girl ---

There once was a turner from Briton Who turned a lidded box was a tight one The box it was Beach The lid it was Peach And the finial, turned was a fine one

there once was a guy with a stubby who didn't want to get grubby he'd turn and he'd sand and go wash his hands and sit back with a drink of the bubbly

there once was a guy with a jet who thought it made a nice pet he turned a nice pen sat back and then gave it to the first persone he met

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Or this (written on my Palm in the dentist's waiting room): A turner was wielding his skew

In an effort to make something new

But his attention it flagged

And his skew-tool it snagged,

So he finished the piece with some glue.

A hollow form turner named Kent had a tool which was horribly bent. It defied proprioception in every direction and think of the money he spent!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Pay attention, folks. THAT is a real high quality limerick!

A turner from Brooklyn, named Tovah, Made spurtles and and pens on his Nova. When his motor shaft snapped, His forehead he slapped, And said, "My carreer, it is OVAH!"
