I am trying to find a type and source of masking material to use on some turnings. Thanks for the help.

the most used masking tape used for sandblasting is good ole "duct" tape.

I asked somebody that question yesterday and they directed me to:

formatting link
. Search their site for 'resist' or 'mask'.

I haven't tried them yet so I cannot advise better.

Good luck, David

======================================= Hi, I second the suggestion for duct tape. Masking is a little too flimsy , and "resist" that I've heard of is for hard surfaces like metal or glass. Of course , I haven't heard of every thing; just don't tell my wife. Good luck Ken Moon Webberville,TX

Too sticky and gooey IMHE - hard to clean off.

I like "sticky-backed plastic", like Fablon. The vinyl resists well, you can get a nice sharp edge as there's no fabric in it and the glue peels cleanly. You can even get it in clear, which allows you to align it accurately over a piece.
