Good for you! I still have to look up what a keeper plate is.
It's the little half round piece of soft steel that slides into the slot on top of the tailstock and engages the threads... I think it's purpose is to prevent people like me from applying too much pressure with the tailstock :(
Ah I was wondering why you needed to replace the keeper
