Reyd- my server doesn't show any new posts from you in rec.woodworking other than a couple of comments about hiking staves and a lathe for sale. I don't know about the metalwork group, but I'd suspect that maybe your posts didn't get past your ISP. Could that be possible?

Oh- As I tell the boys in my Scout group... Yer not stupid- just ignorant. Remember that ignorance can be cured with knowledge. Stupid is forever.

Try asking the questions again- and don't forget that most of the turners around here are also well skilled in wood, metal, and other trades too .

I've seen several posts in the last couple days - today I noticed the CA magazine and the Vancouver Is. shop posts - maybe it's just a busy Saturday out there.

On another subject, I've wanted to drop you a note to inquire about the success or failure of my suggestion on obtaining a scroll chuck... Have you sent a plea? Have you received a reply? You don't have to give specifics here if you're uncomfortable doing so - please feel free to email me privately.

Your post about the Canadian woodturning magazine didn't mention the name of the mag..........not much to comment about. I always like to hear about a new woodturning magazine.......they're pretty rare, you know. Tell us a little more.

Maybe you posted the same posts in both groups simultaneously (known as crossposting)?

A lot of people seat up their readers so they don't see crossposts because so many crossposts are spam.

I can find only one recent question from you on "rec.woodworking". It was the one looking for a source for alabaster/soapstone on or near Vancouver Island. Because of the restriction of the area, the question would limit the number of replies.

posted through google, and I think they went throught because my ISP's server downloaded them. I posted the same message as here asking about alabaster/soapstone sources, and some questions about what metals to use for different things in metalworking, more people more chance of answers. in article 6Oz2c.31425$ snipped-for-privacy@newssvr26.news.prodigy.com, Victor Radin at snipped-for-privacy@NOSPAMameritech.net wrote on 3/6/04 11:02 PM:

you mean about a chuck for the school lathes, we got a reply saying that there are factory seconds for 20% off, but unfortunately it seems that the shops acount is currently in the negative numbers, so we are gonna wait for a while.

nope, one concerned tool shaft materials and metal type things, the one in rec.woodworking was more about finding alabaster and soapstone in article snipped-for-privacy@4ax.com, Mike Patterson at snipped-for-privacy@the-patterson-family.com wrote on 3/7/04 6:50 AM:
