Woodturning Design - Winter 2005

Welp, It's a great magazine, but I'm not renewing my subscription. Subscribed almost a year ago, got my first 3 issues. Haven't received the Winter 2005 although everyone around me that I know HAS received theirs.

I called the 1-800 number today, was treated pretty rude, woman acted pretty lost, and then I was told if don't get it by about January 1st, to call again. I had trouble getting my first issue too, had to call them after they had my check for quite awhile. Why call again? I told them today there was a problem...

Very unorganized company putting these out from my own experience. It's a shame too, because it's a good magazine, but if you have trouble getting it - hardly worth messing around with. 4 issues, problems getting 2 of them. Not a good sign of things to come...

Anyone else have these types of issues with getting it?j None of my local magazine stands / bookstores carry it, so I'll be putting the money into other books / videos.

If they have a service email account you might send them a copy of the concerns you posted here. Might not do much good but it might interest them to know that a large woodworking forum knows of your concern. I recently had several problems with the handbook provided with by a major power tool manufacturer. They seemed to listen closely when I passed along similar concerns voiced from other potential customers.

Might have be lip-servicing too.

My experience -- I called them to ask about advertising in their magazine. I left a voicemail for someone who seemed to be the right person. They never bothered to call me back. I think that they need some organization.

I just buy mine off the stands.........no problems finding it in my area. Not a bad magazine..........just not a great one IMO. Let's give it a little while to grow and see what develops before we write it off. Some of my old, old Fine Woodworking's weren't so great either.

I had an email from Joe's wife a few days ago,(Joe is the editor) it seems that Joe had a mild heart attack a few days ago.

That is probably why they are having some problems with organization. I'm sure he will get back to you as soon as he is able.

Best wishes, Dave

I wasn't contacting Joe, I was talking to the company that does the distribution and as I understand, it isn't Joe. It's "Craft Magazines" or something along that line.

Anyway, my question was about where the magazine was when others had it. There reply was pretty poor.

Hope Joe is feeling better and AOK. Seems like a good guy from his posts on the net. I hope he beats those people with a stick though if he wants the magazine to make it.
