Checking in

I've been lurking for most of the summer because when it's warm I'm OUTSIDE!!! Now that it's rainy and a little chilly here in NE Indiana, I'm catching up on the pile of Christmas scarves I have to make. I have two down, one on needles, and 4 to go (only takes about a weekend once I actually sit and work on one, so I have gobs of time left). I have finished my Wonderful Wallaby in Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool. It's nice. I added about an inch to the body and almost two inches to the sleeves to get the medium to fit right. When my dad looked at it on me his comments were: "Hey, the sleeves fit. How much extra did you have to put on the sleeves?" hee hee hee. That's the one big problem in this family-- extra long arms and legs for our heights/torsos. I wanted to wear the sweater when I was backpacking last week, but decided off white in elk country at the beginning of elk/deer season might be a bad choice. Beau (the dog) and I hiked well over 100 miles this summer, 72 miles just last week. My new BF (yay! got rid of the old mean one) is currently on deployment in Mississippi helping to clean up, but the rumor is that he'll be back some time next week, he hopes in time for my birthday on Sunday.

Anyway, I'm still alive, just quiet.

Say, my sons unit (those not in Iraq at the moment) are being sent to New Orleans to help out too. What branch of the service is your BF in? Hope he does get back in time for your birthday. The sweater sounds cute, but probably a wise decision not to wear it now in Elk Country. Please send some cool weather our way, we're still hovering at the

100F mark. Marie and the cats-glad you're still alive but hoping you won't be so quiet.

Hi Amanda,

Great to see you again. I know what you mean about not knitting in the heat we have all been having. It left for one week, but is back again here in upstate NY. Granny squares are great to work on in this weather. Early birthday wishes and hope the BF gets back in time.

Hugs,

Nora

He's was on active duty with the Army in Iraq, but when he was done with his 4 years he became a Guard instructor. Had only been with the Guard for about 6 weeks when he was sent to MS. My Dad was also in the Army (69-74) so he really likes the new BF.
