I managed to learn to cast on fromthe instruction book that came with it (though it's always been a hitand miss operation at the best of times). There are different methodsand I'd recommend a "manual" approach to get started with. Your locallibrary may still have some books on machine knitting that can help. Ihave a very general one that lists instructions for all kinds ofmachines.
