OK thnx Suzee wondered if you could transfer from one circ to another one half way through it... higz cher
When I first did some, I didn't know Cat Bordhi's Moebius CO, so just picked up stitches from the `bottom' of a regular CO and it was hard going. I used a 2nd cir for that 2nd half and for several more rounds and then just used one. However, later on, when I wanted to see how big it was getting and how it was turning out, I knit with the 2nd one again. If you have the same size, no need to transfer stitches, just knit with the other one too.

Hi Suzee, I think I see what you mean, do you mean so that you then have two circs going into one scarf
higz Cher
Yep, you knit halfway around with one, then take the tail of the left hand needle and start knitting with it, until the stitches are gone from it, then repeat. Have you never done knitting with 2 circulars before?

A lot of times when i work 2 colors i work as i described with a Dc and the circular m also have dine it with 2 circulars , but do not chnge half way ,, like some body here sugeested if i use a second circular i just knit all stitches on that one and than take the empty one and use that one ,, but i really enjoy having them all on the one circular ,,, mirjam
Sue Cher when i cast on the knit way it is quite loose enough to cast on the new st underneath ,,, now i tried to cast on a bigger sized needle and than cast on beneath it with the intended to knit needle ,, it works much better !!!! mirjam
Sue doesnt that enable a `notorious` gap =3Dladder in the 2 places where you switch ??? or do you moove some stitiches from 1 circular to the other to avoid that !!!!? mirjam
It doesn't have to, but yeah I usually make the changeover in a different place on every round to avoid any stretching.

The MCO that is demonstrated here -
Went top look at this Very nice site you posted with the great pics on how to make a Moebious , but i still don`t see the point in the Waste thread ???? also , having made a few moebiouses over time i don`t see where she casts on the other side`s stitches ,,,,But i think people sjould try and see which method works for them ,,,,,,mirjam
Yes, with socks and such, but never done a moebious where the circ wraps around the work twice bottom and top of a row...or cast on stitches AND cast on edge... so didn't know if it would lose the twist or double twist...LOL

Hi Mirjam yes I've done that as well, and it works fine, but my initial worry wasn't so much about tight stitches, but trying to angle the other end of the circ, to get it into the next cast on row to make the stitch, picking up the loops is fine, and not tight at all... but as I can't pull the needle through too much, and the hard part of the circ is long like a dpn's so won't bend, I was finding it easier to have to use another one, just to be able to get going, for a couple of rounds, I feel when I'm knitting this, that I ought to have a needle with the tip part being not so long..the hard needle part of my circular is 6.05ins/17cms long the plastic bit is
13ins/33.05cms long making a total of 64cms long maybe it isn't long enough..????higz Cher
Thanx Suzee for the link,
hi Mirjam well I want to be able to keep going and not have to swap about, as this is the fastest way of doing it, with not having to change over, the reason I'd asked initially was because I had wondered at the time whether it would have been easier to have swapped to a shorter circ, as I was having a hard time of it gettin the first couple of rounds done.

Sorry I didn't look at it closely. There is no point in using waste yarn, just start with the yarn you're going to knit the whole piece with. I use the cord of the circular instead of waste yarn. By dipping the right needle back and forth over the cord, you pick up yarn that ends up wrapped around the cord. You don't have to cast on the `other side', they're all there. After you have your stitches on, then you begin knitting; some of the stitches will be seated the `correct' way, some will have the back leg in front. Knit them all in the front leg and by the time you've got the first round done, they make a moebius. It does sorta work like magic...

It works better with a circ about 90cm, most moebius knitters use 100 or
120 cm. Depends on the needle size; using 8mm or bigger, I can get away with the 90 cm because the sts are looser.sue
Here's a video clip of how you do the Cast on - runs on Windows media player -
That looks easy enough.....lol
higz Cher
ok the co is easy enough, so you end up with the cord of the circ inside or alongside the needle you've been pivoting with.......where do you go next, I mean that isn't going around in a spiral yet, so now once the cast on is complete and I've got say 400 stitches on the needle and now squashed cord...which way do you go next and how???? lol
