Had it been SO well, Mirjam! LOL!

Hurtig = rapid ruten= The rout. The ship which goes the rout rapidly . I know this is not good english LOL!

There are other ships which takes more cargo along the same rout; and NOT so rapidly. It depends of how much cargo they have to get on and off the ship along the coast.

Hurtigruten takes cargo too. Earlier it took much more, and tourists often complained that they could smell fish!! Then they were told that they were lucky to travel with the "vein" that held the coast alive! Hurtigruten passes daily along the coast.. ...and as fish is the most important article at the Norwegian coast , it often brings some fish, and it is natural that you can smell it!

Now the ships are much more like cruise ships. (We MISS the older ones! THEY were real ships!) But still I cannot garantee that you will get a fish-smell-free tour! LOL! AUD ;-))

YES!!! May be we should forget about our broomsticks, take a Hurtigrute, travel along to gather people, find a place in the Panorama saloon and pick up our knitting:
