Catherine, I have bookmarked your site in my travel folder and will show it to my spouse. We have never been to Africa - my daughter spent a college term in Namibia about twenty years ago on a student research fellowship and we hosted an exchange student from Capetown about 30 years ago - but neither my husband or I have made it in person. Next fall we go back to India so it is probably not in 2006 plans -- but I will see if I can put in a suggestion for the future.

By the way, when we were in India we did go to a wildlife reserve in the Nilgiri hills where we saw elephants and assorted other animals. We went with several families from India who are in the same profession as my husband and with a local guide (eleven of us all together) We were in India for a conference and this was a side trip afterwards which all of us enjoyed.

I like your website -- and I thought your picture and description of yourself helped to make me comfortable with the idea of booking through you (to say nothing of the fact I have met you here as well)

I think I've found what I'm looking for.

Thanks for all the help. I found a few, but I've been looking at so many patterns now that my head is spinning. I've found a couple of great patterns, and then lost them again.

Thanks. I've tried to make it a bit personal, but was afraid it would lose the professional aspect. I hope you found it easy to navigate, and not too slow. I know the pictures are large - my reasonaing is that people who want to see pictures are willing to wait a little. The selling pages should be much faster.

My web stats told me that 2 people visited about 70 pages each!!! LOL You MUST love the animal pics! Just recently I did 2 tours to Kruger, and have just finished the web page for the last one:

The one prior to that will take another day or so, and then I need to get the pages up of the trip we did to Botswana/Zambia/Zimbabwe.

I certainly hope you will be able to come to South Africa for a holiday. It's a beautiful country, and not at all what people expect.

Let's hope you win the lottery! Hell, let's hope I win the lottery! Then I'll go to the US and visit all these needlework stores, and... sigh.

I know that there's a live webcam somewhere in/near Botswana, but have lost the url. I'll post it here as soon as I get it again. See my other post for the new web page I uploaded today.

A couple of people have pointed me in the direction of the aran weight shawl. It's beautiful. If I was inot making a shawl I would do that one, in the same weight, for myself.

Do people wear shawls in the rest of the world? It's not a very African thing, as far as I'm aware, but then home knitted clothing isn't very in here either. Don't shawls make overweight women look more overweight?

Not that I should even think about that, as I intend to lose 40kgs this year! lol

We'll have to find some compromise there. We just don't have the equivalent of Disneyland, except for a couple of theme parks in cape Town and Johannesburg - can we change his focus to 4x4 driving, or something masculine like that? How about a walking safari? And we can feed you daughter cultural food across south africa! lol I dare not say more, for fear of putting you off.

And when you come, you can bring me some of those patterns! I do like the oak and acorn (?) one.

I looked at all your animal pictures! :o) I never notice *your* picture though... sorry... when I see animals I tend not to notice much else. ;o) I may have missed a couple of other things too, because I never saw the closer picture of that HUGE hole (sorry, I forget what it was called now) and I had been interested to see that a little closer.

I love looking around there! Unfortunately they don't have as many live cameras working as they used to. Right now I'm watching an Eagle... that's the most action going on. When the picture refreshes his head moves. Ah well... some days are better than others. :o)Gemini

Shawls and ponchoes are very "in" at the moment, so I think we use it as long as it lasts!LOL! OH, NO!!! if you wear a shawl, nobody can guess what shape is under it, at least that is what we have DECIDED to believe! LOL!!! Higs! AUD ;-)

That's the difference between "price they're really hoping for" and "price it will actually sell for".

Use it. That's what it's for. But gently, of course.
