Hi Katherine

What a wonderful turn of events for you..I am sure you pass all your exams and from what I have gleaned from you will make a superb minister. I am really happy for you.

Isn't funny how life takes these twists and turns, and how the little roads we trek down change our whole world?

You obviously have been called upon for this new vocation, from the day you were born, God had a special job for you when the time was right, and this is now...and whilst my heart goes with you with good wishes I don't envy you all the hard work that surely must go with it.

I know that such a special sincere person such as yourself will make such a special sincere difference to many lives you've yet to meet

Blessings.....Cher x

Hi Katherine,

Over here we now have many lady ministers/vicars and I am glad this has taken this turn, as I am sure God didn't mean it to be a mans world, with men only teachers, for this is what you are going to be now, a tutor of Gods Holy Word. I think alot of women appreciate another woman to talk to, especially when it comes to funerals and other delicate issues, although male ministers do an excellent job there is nothing like a womans touch when it comes to soothing a troubled spirit. A woman is born and bred to be compassionate, whilst alot of men are brought up not to cry - big boys don't cry - etc and so they don't show the compassion they could at times when it is needed. Although I think in todays world boys are brought up to have more feelings. Of course there are those that argue it is not a womans place to be ordained as a Priest/Vicar/Minister and will point out that Jesus himself chose 12 men....but in those days he would have found it hard to find twelve disciples from the womenfolk of his time, women then were not on show, not workers and had virtually no say in anything, although he did have a few women disciples...Mary Magdalene was one his mother and various wives along the line.

So to me Katherine you were chosen to be born at the right time for this special job. I was brought up strictly Church of England, and am proud to say I changed our village Church's history by being the very first ever choir Girl..oh I so desperately wanted to sing with the male choir convinced I could be as good as them, and I was. Today they have a choir of equal amounts of girls boys men and women.. I've gone on through life and still sing, as you know, but this gift is also returned when and where I can by using it to raise monies for deserving charities, it is my thankyou back to God for my special gift. I've never believed we should just take our gift and use it for our own gain without giving it back in some form or another. You have probably always had a gift to teach and soothe and help others too, and the road to today has been your study ground, now you are to give this gift out to others. So I wish you all the best in the world Katherine, and if you ever come this way remember you have kindred spirits here waiting for you.

ooops I didn't mean the wives of Jesus, but wives of other great men of the time era would stand by their men and help preach the word of God... thought I'd best clear that one up...lol

Cher, your voice must have rang out over all the other in the choir. Good for you to break the mold. Katherine will do well I am sure, it is high time there are more women in all churches. Most religions are and have been run by men, and see where it got us. Way to go Katherine And Cher.

Hi Ray, Did you get the yarn I sent? I haven't seen you mention it on rcty, and my email is being a pain at the moment. I'd had to guess at the postage, so I just want to make sure it got to you. Anyway, I hope you had a good time at Guide camp, or at least the girls had a good time at Guide camp, and you survived it.

Best Wishes Penny

Thank you so much for those words, Cher. I was brought up Roman Catholic and never thought that I would ever be able to be ordained. However, life changed, and here I go! You never know, I could end up in your neck of the woods - there are Presbyterians everywhere.

Oh how right you are Els, it isn't just equal rights it's just that women can do just as good\ a job as our menfolk, and may have a softer approach to more delicate situ's.
