OT - Appointment tomorrow

I likely won't be online tomorrow, or if I do make it online it won't be for very long. I have my appointment with the arthritic specialist in the city at 10 AM and have no idea how long I will be there. Chances are that he will be having me do a few different things to see how well I do, and possibly more x-rays too... as they requested that I bring or wear shorts and sneakers so they can check on my progress.

So if I don't make it online tomorrow, don't worry... I'll likely just be too tired to do anything when I come home, and I'll be back on the next day. :o)

Thank you Nora! Actually I was late getting there as there was an accident on the highway that slowed everyone down... then I took the directions the receptionist had given me only to run into construction... so after taking the detour I finally found the place and walked in almost a half hour late. Luckily he had an opening at 2 PM, so off we (Matthew went with me to help with finding the place) went to eat lunch and then looked in a couple of stores before heading back to the doctor's office.

Since it was a private office and not in a hospital, he didn't send me for more x-rays. He did have me walk back and forth in his office a few times (without my cane), then I had to get on the examining table for him to do some poking and prodding to find out where it hurt, etc. He read the letter "My Health History" that I had typed out and had printed off for him (five pages) while he had me complete a two-sided page about my pains and abilities/limitations, and shade in areas on a drawing of a body (front and back) where the pains have been the worst this past week).

After all that he said that he agrees with my family doctor that I do have Fibromyalgia. He also said that unfortunately there isn't a lot that can be done for it... especially considering that I cannot take the one medication that is often prescribed to help with sleep/depression/pain. He said the only thing he can recommend is that I look into seeing if there is a Fibromyalgia, or even an Arthritis group in the nearby city (where he is is much further away) that I might be able to join for support and help with certain exercises.

So basically, I'm exactly where I was before going to see him. *shrug* However his receptionist did give me their card and told me that the lawyer handling my Disability case can contact them and they will forward the letter that he was dictating to my family doctor... that he agrees that I do have Fibromyalgia.

Well, Gemini, it sounds like the doctor will help with your disablity case at least. Sorry he could not offer more help but that is par for the course for arthritic type suffering I am afraid which sometimes leaves you wondering what to do next. God Bless Gwen
