Re: NYCO finished

Hiya, Georgia,

I'm with Nora -- just LOVE those socks!!!!!!! The colors are great, and I'm amazed that you were able to get the pieces to "land" in the same places on each sock. Did ya knit them two-at-once on circ's? I haven't tried that yet but plan to (with the million other things on the "plan to" list!!) sometime......!

Eve :o)

PS - Also LOVE that Aran sweater that shrank. If I were you, I'd tell DH (if that's who it was for) that I just COULDN'T get it to ease again and be big enough for him (oh, boo hoo! hehehe!) ... and then I'd keep it ALL FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL PPS - The Fair Isle is amazing -- WAY beyond my skill level. It's just gorgeous, and no wonder that DS wanted it back!

Thanks Eve! I knitted the socks one at a time, making the second one match by frequently comparing it to the first. The only hard part was making sure I had the right section of the pattern dyed blue yarn--and I actually messed that up in the second heel, but I don't think anyone (including me) really cares about that. My next challenge will be to knit a pair on 2 circular needles--a necessity since I'm not sure I have enough of the silk wool I'm going to use, and I may have to knit the toes and heels of something else.

Once you get the hang of 2-color knitting, Fair Isle isn't that hard--you're never working with more than 2 colors at a time. But it's VERY warm. I was thinking of knitting some Fair Isle socks, but then I remembered how warm the FI legwarmers I made were (too warm!), and decided to pass on that.

WOW, Georgia! I'm in awe!

PS - Thanks for the tip 'bout the Fair Isle too -- didn't realize that you dealt with only two colors at a time. It looks like several at a time so I was completely frightened off from even reading through a pattern or giving it a try! Now I will definitely consider it. :o) !!
