This is too funny. Years ago (15 to 20 probably), when I had to learn programming languages, the only way I could care enough about their ridiculous syntax and semantics was to write sweater design programs. Somewhere at the university, stored away on tapes, and perhaps still in the bowels of my office computer, are interactive programs for knitting pullovers in Basic, Prolog, and maybe LISP, although I'm not sure I ever mastered enough LISP to do it. Never had to learn C or C++, but I'll tell you Prolog was not designed for this sort of thing!
