Teddies for Tragedies

If you see a little child in misery and forsaken by humans..would you ask what religion they were before you gave them a smile or piece of bread?

You are absolutely right JCT....... Americans have so much they dont appreciate left over wool made into hats or toys... I just like knitting the teddies..to make a child happy.

One question..do you think a child with lots of toys would appreciate a teddy more than a poor kid with no toys?

I love this ng because it includes people from around the world who have on common interest, and who are polite and considerate of others. OK, so we agree to disagree about where we should send the teddies, but the bottom line is that all the teddies are going to a good cause. Lets keep knitting and move on.

"Hey, gang! I didn't mean her thing ISN'T good! I just PERSONALLY have a very hard time with an island that dedicated itself to the devil 300 years ago............... Noreen mea culpa " and "Haiti is not totally voodou-based. There are an awful lot of Christians there, too.

Anastasia "

Um, I don't want to come across as snarky, and I certainly don't expect to change anyone's personal beliefs, but Voodoo isn't a devil worshiping religion. It is a non-Christian religion that worships different Gods, but they don't worship the devil. Hinduism is similar in that they worship a variety of Gods, but don't worship the devil. Devil worship is a common misconception about people who practice Voodoo as their religion of choice. Minimal research of reliable sources, (Encyclopedias, Webster's Collegiate Dictionary etc.) will show that the media has contributed immensly to the denigration of the religion.

I'm not a practicer, but I don't like to see religions demonized based on Hollywood misconceptions. I just wanted to set the record straight and present some facts about Voodoo.

I absolutely respect your right to offer your charity work to a cause you believe in, and I don't hope to change your personal beliefs. S.

See, Sarah... I never said anything about voo-doo, and *I* know that voo-doo and dedicating the island to the devil are two entirely different things (ppl think Wicca is devil-worship as well, and it's NOT, but that's an entirely new thread which I don't have the gumption to go go into here) I agree with YOUR 'assessment'. Who is to know, my kids did not have a lot of toys and all three never warmed up to dolls or stuffed toys. They loved to play with old cardboard boxes, and things that could be made into play things. I would say that it depends on the child, with or without toys.

We are second guessing here for the sake of the argument.

Waste of time as far as I am concerned.

Enjoy making the toys, or teddys and send them off with your best intentions and move on As long as you got satisfaction out of your creation and a child, was happy on the other end, that is all that matters.
