Mieke

Mieke English please, LOL, Only three of us will be able to read your Dutch, and the rest of the group which is many have no clue what we are talking about.

Your first message came over fine, maybe you could not see it, but I sure can, and I take that the rest of the group is able to see it as well.

Well yes, but that was just a sort of greeting to Mieke, from Mirjam and Rita. But a longer message back in Dutch, gets hard to understand what it is all about. Maybe Katherine can practise her Dutch here....LOL

OK here is a try at a word by word translation of the above.....

" Yes yes here is Mieke, Els greatest friend from Toronto. We have many seave and spin hours shared together, and i do mis her a lot. I can see that she is lengthy of material with all her postings to the group, I certainly can't match that . I will give it my best to come off and on and join the group. I do not sit every day behind my computer, way to many other things to do. All that writing in Dutch I have to get used to. Hella Els , Mirjam and Ria, Fun that there are some Dutch participators here. At the moment I am busy with Woven Shibori. That is very much in, at the moment in our Toronto Guild. I am going to the distillery, (Toronto art and craft area downtown), to buy som 2/8 tencel from Marie Payne, from Yarns Plus (she has a great website). 2/8 Tencel weave up a bit faster than the 2/20 I have at hand. Tencel takes the dyes very well, for the woven shibori

Untill the next time

So Long

Mieke

Translated by Els, so everyone knows what we were jabbering about...LOL

This is more of the same with a promise that the next message is going to be in English. I sure hope so, because my translations are not all that best.....LOL

Mieke is just trying to get onto or is it into this group. I do think that she is not able to see what she has posted. thus this message is more or less a copy of the first message she posted. I have not talked to her as yet, been busy myself today. Maybe we can straighten that problem out.

Also she works form a PC and I work on a Mac. Things are slightly differently approached from these two different points

Well Katherine, that is all we ask, a good try, but by now I have translated it, with lots of spelling errors, as I just noticed. Type to fast and you miss letters.

Els, I just found this on another newsgroup that I read.... a Belgium (I think) lady on there tried to translate a recipe using babblefish and it came out REALLY confusing... then while looking for a better way to translate, she came up with this website. It doesn't translate anything, but I thought you might enjoy it. :o)

Thanks for the translation, Els. Even though I don't know any Dutch, I was able to "translate" the first line but I didn't get anywhere with the rest. It was fun trying however.

Gemini, Interesting. The Dutch always have interwoven other languages into their own speach. Since I have no idea what this magazine is all about, I don't understand the comment either. Just reading Vriendinnetjes as Vriendinyes, will get you the same pronounciation for both words, if you say it fast enough. With no hidden meanings, it would say yes to being girlfriends. If it maybe is a lesbian magazine....I have no clue at all if that is so, there may be a hidden meaning as well. I find it a bit cramped myself, staying with the Dutch vriendinnetjes does say it well for me. Now having said that, I am sure when Mieke and I talk together that we create words like that all the time....LOL

Great that you gave it a wirl. I am sure if Aud was here, she would have gotten a long way, by reading it fast in Norwegian, she could have gotten the gest of it. I bet she is having a great time in Amsterdam.
