Thank you!

Thanks to all who sent ideas for setting up our group at the nursing home. I am ready to start in one week. The director of the activities department has named the class Flying Needles with Susan Carey. I am so happy with the response from the residents who are anxious for the first day to get here. I fear the director is getting in over her head, but because I know all the residents better than she does, I can help there as well. One bed bound lady does not want to be included in the group because of loss of feeling in her hands but she does cross word puzzle books day in and day out. The director did not know that. And I already told that resident if she wants any time to do anything with crafts, just to let me know, and I will come in and assist. Most who are interested are there for shorter term times, so I may lose them to discharge, but once we get started, there will be an ongoing process, and we will gain new members all the time. If you can't tell it, I will tell you that I am excited as a new MOM.

Again, thanks for all the ideas...

Susan

Hi Susan,

Oh it sounds like you will be having a lot of fun, come back and tell us how many you have and what they are working on.

Also enjoy your trip and good luck to your DD.

Hugs,

Sounds great Susan, let us know how it developes

BTW your parcel went in the mail last week after the Easter weekend. I had totally forgotten that Good Friday was part of the long weekend. When you are retired, days do get mixed up sometimes. Any way everything is on its way. Let me know if you need any help with it.

If she is afraid she'll drop stitches, there are scarf boards and hat rounds that have pegs that hold the stitches. And there's always nalbinding, which is done with a sewing needle, usually a thick one like a bulky yarn needle, and you can't drop a stitch because it's like blanket stitch - each one is sewn in place. Some of the archaeological digs in South America found some afghan-sized lacy blankets made of tiny multicolored figures of people and animals, all sewn that way.
