MRH (Gemini), I did read what you said, and very carefully at that. You implied that I was ripping off The YarnWright (Noreen), which is the same as flat out saying that I'm a plagiarist. As a writer, you should know that. Believe me, there are absolutely no hard feelings. I was simply "clearing my name," so to speak. Forgive me if I came off as harsh, or rude. I was just rather shocked that someone would imply such things.

The YarnWright (Noreen), thank you for the email. I've since edited the post and given proper credit to you, with a link back to this particular group. Hope all is well with everyone, and happy holidays!

Respectfully, Chris

Chris,

In no way did I imply that YOU were ripping anything off! You yourself said that you got the poem from the other link on your site. Considering that you got the poem from another website, you are obviously not a plagiarist, but simply someone who was sharing a humorous poem with the readers of your own website. So if you took what I said to mean that I thought you (or even the owner of the other website) are a plagiarist, then I apologise to you, because that is most definitely *not* what I was saying or even thinking.

In fact I did not imply that anyone was definitely ripping the poem off from Noreen and her friends. I said someone MAY be ripping it off because I had come across the same poem on two websites. To be totally honest with you, I never even noticed the link(s) on your website, or even on the other one indicating that there are a TON of other versions out there.... I found both yours and the other site separately through google. I had in fact heard the version that Noreen posted on this newsgroup years ago... *before* I ever even had a computer... and then a few more times it was sent to my email by friends after we did get our first computer about ten years ago.

If, in fact, Noreen and her friends wrote this version of the poem in grade six and didn't sign their name to it or put a copyright on it (who in grade six would think to do such a thing?.... and considering the content, they couldn't very well show it to their parents and have them suggest a copyright) then it is unfortunately their loss and their names (or even credit to them) cannot and should not be added to the poem now because this could cause a lot of legal problems for any of them should someone else step forward to say that *they* are the original writers of said poem. Most especially if someone else actually wrote out the poem in handwriting and had it copyrighted a few years back... whether they found it and added their name to it or not... if they have a copyright, they are the owner and could cause a lot of legal problems for Noreen and her friends, if their names or credit to them are added to the long-existing poem now. If anything at all is added to the end of the poem now, it should just read "_Anonymous" and nothing more.

Gem, first, thanks. Also, thanks for tacking Chris's previous on here too, because I didn't see it! Chris, you didn't have to do that, after all, I can't prove I and the other three wrote it, but you're sweet to DO that! Happy holidays! Noreen

Chris, went to another newsserver and FOUND your post here! (see my other post done as a reply to Gems, with subject changed to Gem AND Chris!) Chris, you didn't have to DO that, changing it, I mean... after all, I really cannot prove that I and the other 3 wrote it... but that is SO sweet of you to do so! Happy holidays, Noreen

You're welcome! As I said, I wouldn't want to see you have legal trouble for the sake of a poem that no one put their name to many years ago.

- Who has been signing her name to and dating *all* of her writing since the very first thing I ever wrote... my Mom suggested it the first time.
