TKGA question....

Anybody know the year that they changed FROM

T he K nitting G uild (of) A merica (based in Knoxville, TN)

TO:

T he K nitting G uild A ssociation (based in Zanesville, OH)?

And while I'm querying... when did the original CGOA (C rochet G uild O f A merica) change to TCGA (T he C rochet G uild A(ssociation?/merica?)

Tia, Noreen who is really PO'd with the 'new' TKGA, as they've LOST my Master Knitters info from 1989.

I know a gal who has every issue of Cast On going back to when dirt was invented. TKGA has been in the habit of publishing the names of everyone who completes any part of the program, so if you when in 1989 you "matriculated" I can ask my friend to scan the cover, the publisher's info page, and the notice with your name on it. If that won't satisfy them then I want to sell tickets for the show when you drive up to the office to knock heads.

Noreen,

The Cast On Spring 2003 is still claimed as under publication of T.K.G.America, but for Cast On Summer 2003, it has changed to T.K.G.Association. Furthermore, i still have an email from TKGA dated 4th January 2003 signed as TKGAmerica but the other email dated on 17th April 2003 showing both of the name, i guess the sender forgot to change her 'pre-fix signature'. However, they changed their location to Zanesville even before they have the changed on the name, at least the TKGAmerica already based at Zanesville on April 2002. If my memory didn't fail me , i remember at that time (end of 2001 or earlier of 2002) the TKGAmerica was handing over to the new people (new management?). They were ungrading their whole website on year 2002 (roughly from Mar to Jun) and re-released their official website on 6th July 2002 (i got the email notification).

About The Crochet Guild of America (CGOA), i thought there is no change on their name?

still shows their logo as CGOA to date. Anyway, both of the guilds are managed by the Offinger Management Company now.

I hope these info helps.

Hey, Wooly! I HAVE the issue, and I have all three levels certificates... what they won't do NOW is acknowledge it! It used to be ON my old membership cards... now they don't even issue them, however I MADE them make one for me... but still no mention of my MK. ah well.... yeah, wanna come with me? :) Let's wait till their recent foot of snow melts... course two mad knitters would melt it FOR them, LOL! Sounds like 1990 was when they changed over and dumped all their old information. Probably the listings in the magazines would give the name change too.

I seem to remember that that they were having trouble with a management company that were supposed to be running the organization for them, and that company lost a lot of the records. That was when they changed their name and location - I think.

Roger.
